It is a text book. Dry and informative but tedious is to be expected.

I have noticed that it has different parts of a topic spread throughout different sections and even different chapters.
Examples:
-> Cellular communication networks is mentioned in chapter 1 or 2 but chapter 15 is where "base station" shows up - the answer to a question from a ch1-2 homework set.
-> Ethernet information is scattered through several tables and lists in chapter 15, which necessitates repeating the name of the type a

I have noticed that it has different parts of a topic spread throughout different sections and even different chapters.
Examples:
-> Cellular communication networks is mentioned in chapter 1 or 2 but chapter 15 is where "base station" shows up - the answer to a question from a ch1-2 homework set.
-> Ethernet information is scattered through several tables and lists in chapter 15, which necessitates repeating the name of the type and speed in each while each large table only adds one new piece of information/category; one table with it all would have taken up far less space, ink, and be easier to reference or copy out.

Then there is chapter 19. It is two completely separate topics, but under one chapter for some reason (wanting exactly 20 chapters? A dislike of short chapters?). The organization of this book is terrible. I am not sure why the chapters are even in the order they are in, or information about some things split up between several chapters, as it does not even follow the CompTIA exams of having the first exam as the first have of the book and the information for the second exam in the second half.

Worse, although really just another symptom, the index is unhelpful. A few time I have tried to look something up and been directed to a page with something close but not at all what I needed several chapters away from they question set for which I need the information. One such term took me to two pages in chapter 20, but the question I was attempting to answer is found at the end of chapter 10. I am pretty sure the question is really about something found in a completely different chapter, but as I am reading in a jumping order I could not say if it was an earlier or later chapter.

Also "Bash shell" is named from "Bourne Again SHell" yet it kept typing "bash shell" and that alone made this book worthless. Okay, no, is it relatively minor, but I already was not happy with the book and this grated on me. (chapter 20) BUT my avg rating is down to 2.40 (from 2.43 as a high) so I won't downgrade it from 2 to 1 star just out of spite when honestly it was just doing the same thing I already complained about. It got the job done, well actually not really because the shit organization and index required I check answers to question sets online instead of with the book.

One of my favorite books in computers. I learned a lot from this book. There's too much info in it that a lot of practicing technicians and IT professionals I know still needs to learn. I'm glad I found this.
